Baking day and a Charlie Brown Christmas tree!

IMG_0081

My sweetheart is the best cookie maker in the world!  Here he is displaying the gingerbread cookie dough!  This is a family recipe and tradition for the Boulters’. So irresistibly divine!

Charlie helped roll them in green and red sprinkles.  So festive!

Right out of the oven!  Yummy

On to the next treat.  Chocolate chip cookie bars!

We made a lot of caramel corn that day.  We had to make enough to give to 20 people!

he he he, I am the Queen Tut of caramel corn; why do I have my arms that way?

This is Charlie’s Christmas tree, Charlie Brown style.  We went to the Christmas tree lot and they gave this to us.  Charlie wanted his own baby Christmas tree.  Trees are really important to him this year.

We watched Christmas Vacation the movie, as a family the other evening and when the great uncle lights the tree on fire and burns it to a crisp….Charlie lost it.  He sobbed, saying poor tree oh poor little Christmas tree…..why did he kill the tree!  It is still a very touchy subject!

Uncle Kevin came at the tale end but it was good to see him.  I am envious of his leather BYU coat that Bronco Mendenhall gave him.   The perks of being the head football trainer at BYU!

It has been so fun having the calendar and counting down the days until Christmas.  We have filled it up with Hersey mint mini chocolate bars.  When I was a kid we had an advent calendar and Mom made sure there was candy!  A treat for each day in December; great concept!

Thank you Liz for this special gift made with so much love!  It matches our Christmas decor perfectly!  I am a sucker for anything ginger bread!

Thank you for your thoughtfulness and craftiness!

Christmas Tradition!

IMG_9947
Here is my beyond sweet brother putting up the Christmas lights on the house!  I was helping……someone had to get some pictures.
IMG_9949
I like this picture.  It captures just how gorgeous it was outside.  Here we are in December and we have great weather to put lights up.  No complaints to Mother Nature here!
IMG_9950
Déjà vu….. The only thing that changed from last year is that I got a new Christmas swag for the door.  The tree and boxes are the same!

Family Home Evening
IMG_9963 IMG_9965
We have a tradition of turning on our Christmas lights for FHE.  We read from Mathew 5:14-16
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let  your lights so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
After reading from the scriptures  we went outside and sang Silent Night and turned on the Christmas lights!
We came inside for hot chocolate and cookies! Ending the evening with watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas!  aka the Crunch as Charlie calls him.
